DJ Profile

Originally from Antwerp in Belgium, Philippe Michel has spent more than 30 years in southern Spain. He became interested in house music in 1991 and spent the better part of the nineties as an avid clubber, visiting dance floors across Spain and mainland Europe.

He caught the DJ bug in 2001 and dedicated the next few years to improving his skills, mainly practicing at home and at private parties. In 2003, Mario Zarate offered him the opportunity to play in public for the very first time at the legendary Z-Bar in La Reserva (Marbella). The resounding success of Philippe’s performance led to him becoming one of Z-Bar’s residents straight away. His fresh approach to house music and hugely appealing mix of funky and mainstream house quickly turned Z-Bar known into one of the most popular venues on the Costa del Sol.

In 2004, a summer residency for Hed Kandi followed, playing to packed venues in Puerto Banús and Fuengirola on a weekly basis. He then went on to play at some of the best clubs along the Coast for several years.

In 2007, Philippe and his partner Zaina S decided that it was time to turn to a new musical direction and launched their own monthly event “Deeper”, very much dedicated to a more underground style of tech house, techno and tribal. “Deeper” was a big success and led him to present a weekly radio show, combined with a packed gig schedule that kept him on the road for the next two years, playing at nearly every well-known club in southern Spain.

2008 also saw the beginning of Philippe’s career as a producer and with several releases under his belt between 2008 and 2010, this is still today one of the aspects of being a DJ that he enjoys the most.

In 2013 Zaina S and Philippe launched Tech This Out!, a successful clubbing brand which continues to promote events up and down the Costa del Sol.

Philippe’s cutting edge underground sound has become his trademark and to this date, his love for tech house and techno is well documented and appreciated.
